PFFS Plans Dropped
Members Look to Alternate Choices
Beginning today, members across the country will begin
receiving notices in the mail that their PFFS (Private Fee For
Service) plans are being eliminated.
These programs, run by private insurance companies, received
money from the government to more efficiently handle the
delivery of care for seniors.
With changes in legislation impacting the amount of money
that is allowed for doctor reimbursements, these companies
could no longer continue operating these plans. This means that
members/patients around the country will have to begin looking
for alternatives.
One such alternative, that has been around since the 60's
and delivers the most choice and value, is the Medicare
Supplement policy. By shopping the market, you can obtain a
policy that covers those bills that Medicare, itself, does not
cover. Rates are more competitive in many markets because of
increased competition from the insurance companies.
Those members coming from the cancelled PFFS plans have
guaranteed issue provisions which allows them
to go into Medicare Supplement policies without the typical
underwriting that is involved. Now is the perfect time to look
for a replacement for those cancelled PFFS plans, and the
National Medicare Service Center stands ready to provide the
free service of shopping the market to find the best plan.
Many seniors do not realize that all Medicare Supplement plans
are the same. They must all pay the same claims (any claim
approved by Medicare) and all must provide the same benefits.
The only difference, really and truly, is in the price you pay
every month. Whether you are using a big name insurance company
or another smaller one that is approved by your state, they are
all going to pay the claims - they have to. The question is,
how much do you want to pay for your policy.
Shopping for medicare supplement quotes before signing an
application is your best defense against paying too much money
every month. The National Medicare Service Center has been able
to save individual seniors up to $1,200 per year from the exact
same plan, just by shopping for the best medicare supplement
policy available in the client's state.
